Well, in the last few posts, I’ve mentioned a lot of things. A few about tasks I wanted to complete and then the BIG FALL!

Today, I thought I’d share an “Update Post” to cover all of it. As a bonus, I’m including two items that have inspired me this week. So here we go…

Do you guys remember when I decided to join the 3n30 challenge????? UMMM, ya, that FAILED BIG TIME! I was probably OVER AMBITIOUS (who, ME?!?!) to try and get all of those things done in the month of June, and wait, we’re 4 days away from AUGUST? OOOpPPSSS! BUT, on the plus side, Hubby and I got a good chunk of the kitchen done. YAY! The floor is BEAUTIFUL! But, we still have a long way to go. The lower cabinets are NOT in, which means the countertop is not in, the oven isn’t plugged in, and I do not have a sink. Why, you ask? I truly blame my disease, ankylosing spondylitis.  Mr. Peachey and I just ran out of ‘steam’ in order to complete the kitchen and has taken us nearly 3 weeks to recuperate.

OH and if you don’t already know this, Mr. Peachey has fibromyalgia. Ya, we’re a fun couple to be around. 😉 So, its not just one of us who has a chronic illness, but both of us, LIVING in a fix-‘n-flip, with all of our animals. Truly, what are we doing?! I may be disappointed most days with the lack of progress with the house, but we are truly getting there. Once the kitchen is complete, I’ll do a slide show of where our house WAS and where it is TODAY. You’ll be shocked. Regardless, I’m determined to try and get the kitchen done THIS WEEKEND! EEEP!

Remember my BIG FALL? Well, during the first week after the fall, I had more X-RAYS taken as a precaution and to be honest, I’m glad they did. Nothing showed up on the scans!! Phew!!! I took it easy the rest of the week, but I was the day-of wedding planner for one of my best friends. Am I CRAZY?!?! Uh, ya! Truth be told, running the wedding kept my mind off my back and I felt GREAT the next day. Like back to normal great! So, I’m happy to report that I’m back into my ZUMBA groove! YAY 🙂

Now, onto current ventures! I’m happy to announce that I am the new Social Media Chair for the National Volunteer Committee for the Arthritis Foundation! YAY!! 😀  So, what does this mean? I will be helping other Arthritis Walk Committee’s from around the country incorporating social media into there walk. I’m really excited about this new opportunity and I’m already jumping in. At the end of August I will be traveling to New Orleans for the 2011 Development Conference. So, I’ll be a traveling little lady once again. In the coming weeks of leaving, I’ll be blogging about my preparation for the trip; something crucial for those who have chronic illness. I’ll also blog about the event once it’s complete, but I’ll be tweeting while I’m there. So, if you haven’t yet, follow me on Twitter! 😉

And, as promised, here are the two items that made me really happy yesterday!

  1. Snail Mail My Email –is a month long, interactive community art project transforming people’s emails to handwritten letters that are physically mailed, completely free of charge.
  2. Painting Reality – a public art project called “Painting Reality” by IEPE, paint the streets of  Rosenthaler Platz, Berlin using 500 liters of water-based environmentally-friendly paint on asphalt spread by 2000 cars and spread in every corner of the intersection.  Check out the video of the project below.

If you have any tips about traveling, getting house projects done, or something that made you smile this week, leave a comment below! Let’s share the LOVE!

Much Love,

  1. Hi Peachey!
We put a new kitchen in 3-1/2 years ago. Hubby finally tiled the floor 6 months ago. He promised me he’d have the trim finished by the end of summer and the painting finished by x-mas. These promises (that he seems to be keeping-yay!) came after my frustration came to a boiling point in January. He’s too tired after his job to do work on the kitchen, he told me. I gave him a “what-for”, as I call it. I told him I am fatigued and in pain 24/7 from my AS & Diabetes but I push myself to take care of the house, the bilks, errands, our children & pets…along with many dr. appts., so don’t tell ME tou’re too tired! I got thru to him!. :)) lol
Congrats on the work you’ve completed in your new kitchen! I know you both will enjoy it immensely as we do ours.

    • Hi Melissa, Thanks for the words of encouragement! It’s nice to know we’re not the only one’s out there taking an immense amount of time to finish a NEEDED project 😉 Here’s to a pain-free weekend so we can FINISH! 🙂 I hope you have a pain-free weekend as well!

  2. P.S. I just might begin tweeting! I would enjoy following you on Twitter during your trip to New Orleans!

    • There are a lot of AS friends on Twitter. Its a wonderful community and has given me the ability to ask questions about my disease, complain about the disease, and find humor in it too! Let me know if you ever join Twitter, I’ll introduce you to the community. 🙂
