So, about a month ago I got this notice from my beloved Google Reader:
“We have just announced that we will soon retire Google Reader (the actual date is July 1, 2013). We know Reader has a devoted following who will be very sad to see it go. We’re sad too.
There are two simple reasons for this: usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we’re pouring all of our energy into fewer products. We think that kind of focus will make for a better user experience.
To ensure a smooth transition, we’re providing a three-month sunset period so you have sufficient time to find an alternative feed-reading solution.”
Awesome. Thanks Google. Thanks for the extra to-do in my life. Obviously I don’t have enough. HA!
Now, I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with Google Reader. I love how easy it was to hold all of my favorite blogs into one place, but I hated how my participation didn’t count as page views to my fellow bloggers. Google Reader & other readers do not count as page views since the viewer never actually visits the blog. I felt like I was cheating. So, rather than sitting, waiting for an ideal replacement, I went searching for my next beloved blog reader where I didn’t feel guilty reading my favorite blogs. That’s when I came across:
I’m officially on Bloglovin’ as a user and as a blogger. So far, I love it!! I love how I’m supporting bloggers with page views. Page views = profits and something I don’t mind supporting. I can also comment directly on posts and so far it’s more pleasing to the eye.
So, if you’re an avid Google Reader fan, looking for that awesome replacement, go on, switch to Bloglovin’. It’s easy and quick! Just use this link to import your favorite blogs from Google Reader into Bloglovin’.
Support your favorite bloggers and come check me out! I’ve added a button for easy access! You can find it on the top right of my blog, under my signature and for this post, right here:
2013 is full of adventures for me so why not join in on the fun! Come support me in the new adventure of Bloglovin’. I have a lot to learn, but I need to start somewhere, right?
