Funday Monday – Rats Nest

I’m not going to lie on two counts. One, this post isn’t about rat nests in the literal sense and two, there’s definitely a difference between dry heat and humidity heat. Having long hair is really not my friend and therefore, I’m trying to wear my hair up, but something that isn’t a ponytail.

Now mind you, I’m hair challenged. I love my long hair, but I’m pretty boring when it comes to doing hair.  I know curly, straight, and naturally wavy for wearing it down. For up-dos I know ponytail, side ponytail, bun, braid, sort of fishtail braid, and that’s about it.

However, there’s something I’ve always envied about girls who can do hair. Can twist it up and BAM! Done. It didn’t take them the 45 minutes to end up with a rats nest and tired arms.

Well, that’s usually me…rats nest. So, when I was looking on YouTube for inspiration, I came across this tutorial.

Now, this French Twist hair tutorial was exactly what I was looking for!! Not only does Kate explain it step-by-step, but it was easy to follow along. It was fabulous!! But don’t take my word for it, I’ll show you the evidence…

Although a bit blurry, (that’s what I get for taking pictures of the back of my head with an iPhone, and alone) but you get the idea. EASY! Try it fellow-rat-nest-hair-challenged-friends. If you do try it, be sure to share a picture with me. We’ll get through the summer together.

Much Love,

  1. I hear you! I have long curly/wavy hair and this time of year, it’s quite a hassle to care for. I really like the French twist and I’m going to have to try it! Recently, my ‘go-to’ hair is a sideways Dutch plait. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the film The Hunger Games, but it’s the plait that the character Katniss Everdeen wears (look it up). It took practice to learn a way to do it without hurting myself, but it was worth it. 🙂

I really like your blog, I will definately be following it! I have psoriatic arthritis. I have a blog The Girl with Arthritis at arthritisgirl.blogspot.com if you ever want to check it out.
